Terms of service
Effective June 12, 2026. These are the plain-language terms for hushvert.com, operated by Nir Diamant, Israel. Contact: support@hushvert.com. By using the site you agree to them.
What the service is
hushvert converts files between formats. Most conversions run inside your browser and are free, with no account and no limits. Some formats need our server; those pairs are labeled before you convert, come with free daily quotas, and beyond the quotas require a purchase. Quotas and file-size limits are shown in the product and can change; what the product shows at the moment you convert is what applies. We also offer an open-source SDK that runs entirely in your users' browsers, and a hosted developer API for the server-only pairs, both covered below.
Your account
Browser conversions need no account. Starting a server conversion creates an anonymous session; you can attach an email address to keep your history across devices, signing in with one-time codes. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time from the account page; deletion removes your sign-in, history, and stored files, as the privacy page describes.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Polar Software Inc. as our merchant of record: Polar is the seller of record for the transaction and handles payment processing, tax, invoices, refunds, and payment disputes. Prices are shown at checkout. What you can buy:
- Week Pass: a one-time purchase that unlocks server conversions for 7 days from the moment of purchase. It does not renew.
- Credit packs: one-time purchases of conversion credits. Credits never expire. A credit is spent when a paid server conversion completes; a conversion that fails on our side is refunded to your balance automatically.
- Pro: a subscription, monthly or yearly, that renews until cancelled. You can cancel any time in the Polar customer portal linked from your purchase emails; after cancelling you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
If a paid conversion completes but the result is not usable, every account has a one-time self-serve remedy: the "this didn't work, re-credit me" button on a completed paid conversion returns the spent credit (or extends a pass by one day). Beyond that, write to support@hushvert.com or use the refund process of the merchant of record.
Developer API and API keys
We offer two ways to build on hushvert. The open-source SDK (@hushvert/engine) is MIT-licensed, runs in your users' browsers, and uploads nothing; its license governs your use of it. Separately, we run a hosted API for the server-only pairs (office documents, PDF to Word, and large video). Calling the hosted API means you upload the file to be processed on our server, unlike the browser SDK, so the file-handling and deletion terms below apply to those uploads.
- You authenticate with an API key tied to your account. Keep it secret and server-side; you are responsible for activity under your keys, and we are not liable for use of a key you exposed. We can revoke a key that is abused, and you can revoke your own keys at any time from the developer dashboard.
- Hosted-API usage is metered. Your account includes a free monthly allowance of conversions, shared across all your keys; beyond that, conversions draw on your account credits (the same credits described under Payments). The allowance, per-request size caps, and rate limits are shown in the product and the API reference and can change.
- Do not resell or sublicense access to the hosted API, share keys to circumvent metering, or use the API to overload the infrastructure.
Fair use
Do not use the service to break the law, upload content you have no right to process, probe or overload the infrastructure, resell access, or circumvent quotas (for example by automating anonymous sessions). We may rate-limit, suspend, or close accounts that do.
Your files
Your files remain yours. For server conversions, whether started in the site or through the hosted API, you give us only the narrow permission needed to run the conversion you asked for: temporarily storing and processing the upload and its result. We claim no other rights, your upload is deleted as soon as the conversion succeeds, and the result is deleted within about an hour.
What we promise and what we do not
We work to keep the service available and conversions correct, but the service is provided as is, without warranties; output quality can vary with the input file. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes and ending things
You can stop using the service or delete your account whenever you like. We may change features, quotas, or prices, but we do not retroactively take away what you already paid for: a pass keeps its 7 days, credits stay valid, and subscriptions keep their paid period. Material changes to these terms appear on this page with a new effective date.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and disputes belong to the competent courts in Israel. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
