PPT converter

PPT decks age poorly; PDFs of them do not. Slide rendering needs a real office engine, so this conversion runs on our server, and uploaded files are deleted within about an hour.

What is PPT?

PPT is the binary PowerPoint format from before Office 2007, sibling of DOC and XLS in the old OLE container family. Conference archives and corporate fileservers are full of .ppt decks that modern PowerPoint opens with warnings and other tools open badly or not at all. Converting a deck to PDF preserves the slides as rendered, which is usually all anyone still needs from it.

Common questions about PPT

What is a PPT file?
PPT is the original binary PowerPoint format from before Office 2007, the sibling of DOC and XLS in the old OLE compound-file family. It holds slides, layouts, and embedded media for a presentation. Conference archives and corporate fileservers are full of .ppt decks, which modern PowerPoint opens with warnings and other tools open badly or not at all.
Why won't my old PPT deck open cleanly anymore?
The binary PPT format is dated, so modern PowerPoint opens it in compatibility mode and some viewers and upload forms refuse it or render it with shifted fonts and layout. Converting the deck to PDF preserves the slides exactly as rendered, which is usually all anyone still needs from an archived presentation, and a PDF opens on essentially any device without PowerPoint installed.
How do I convert a PPT to PDF?
Drop your .ppt into hushvert and choose PDF. It renders each slide through a real office engine and lays them out one per page, freezing the deck exactly as shown. Slide rendering is heavyweight office work that a browser cannot do, so this runs in our server lane: the file uploads to a clearly labeled, encrypted lane, the input is deleted immediately after conversion, and the PDF output is removed about an hour later.
Does converting a PPT keep it on my device or upload it?
It uploads. Our image and data conversions run locally in the browser, but rendering presentation slides needs a server-side office engine, so the deck is sent over an encrypted connection to a clearly labeled lane. We delete the input immediately after conversion and remove the PDF output about an hour later. The dropzone marks it as a server conversion before you begin.
Can I edit the slides after converting, or convert PPT into PPTX?
No. A PDF of a deck is a fixed, view-and-print snapshot, not an editable presentation, and hushvert converts PPT out to PDF only. We do not convert PPT into PPTX or produce .ppt files from other formats. If you need to edit the slides, open the original .ppt in PowerPoint, LibreOffice Impress, or Google Slides and save it as PPTX there; use the PDF when you just need to share or archive the deck.
